Peter Thiel Rotates Portfolio from Nvidia to Microsoft and Apple in Q3 2025
Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel executed a significant portfolio reallocation during the third quarter of 2025, liquidating his entire Nvidia position while establishing new stakes in Microsoft and Apple. The move reflects a strategic shift from high-valuation AI chip exposure to more diversified tech platforms.
Thiel's hedge fund Thiel Macro sold all 537,742 Nvidia shares, which had constituted 40% of its $74 million portfolio. The chipmaker's 46.59 forward P/E ratio appears to have prompted the exit, as Thiel redeployed capital into Microsoft (26.61x earnings) and Apple (32.38x earnings) at more moderate valuations.
The new positions include 49,000 Microsoft shares (34% of portfolio) and 79,181 Apple shares (27% of portfolio). This rotation signals institutional preference for mature tech giants with diversified revenue streams over pure-play AI hardware companies following Nvidia's quadruple-digit five-year rally.
